Get well cube

Have the students in your class write a get-well-soon message on your cube, then send it to a child who needs it. Document it with words and pictures here by 1/15/10. Your class’s contribution may appear in a special display at the Art Institute.

#1 Miss Militello's Class completed the task.

On Friday, we, the students of Chase Elementary, Room 103 spotted a cube in their room. We are very excited to get started on our project and bring art into our classroom. Pictures and updates to follow.....

We went online and found out what our cube project was. Then, we needed to find someone in need of a Get Well Cube. Mrs. Sexton, a teacher at Chase, has a good friend Emma. She is also in 5th grade, and just had back surgery. Her recovery is going to take a long time, and we think a get well cube will be perfect for her. Mrs. Sexton taught us all about Emma and scoliosis.

Next, we all brainstormed what how to design the cube. We thought that each table group should take one face of the cube. We decided to draw out a sketch or rough draft to make sure our faces were not the same.

Wow, what great work Room 103 is doing on the get well cube! We hadn't even told Emma about the project yet because she was not feeling well enough at all. But the same day you mailed the cube, she started to feel better. I bet your cube had something to do with that! We will bring the cube to the hospital tomorrow for Emma to open. We will let you know what she thinks. What an awesome gift you made for her.
